Spirit and Truth Christian Assembly
Who We Are, What We Believe
To reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ: To develop a growing relationship with the Lord, His Church, Exemplified by Love and Service To God, His Church and our Community.
|
- WE BELIEVE that the Holy Scripture of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God. The scripture are inerrant, infallible and final authority for faith and life.
- WE BELIEVE in One True God, the Eternal Spirit, who created all things for His pleasure. He is absolute in power, infinite in wisdom, Holy in nature, attributes and purpose, possessing total deity. He concerns Himself mercifully with the affairs of humanity; that He hears and answers prayer, and that he saves from sin and death, all who believe according to His Word. God has revealed Himself as Father ( in giving life in creation), as Son (in reconciliation of humanity), and as Holy Spirit (in regeneration of our lives).
- WE BELIEVE in Jesus Christ, who is both God and Man. He is God incarnate; the image of the invisible God; God manifest in the flesh that is God's only begotten Son. We believe as Son He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and taught with authority. He died for the sins of all humanity, had a bodily resurrection, ascended into heaven, and will return again.
- WE BELIEVE that all people are sinners by nature, and have become alienated from God. They are totally sinful and unable to remedy their lost condition. Humanity is reconciled to God only by grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- WE BELIEVE that salvation is a gift from God, given to humanity by grace and received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith is more than a mental assent, intellectual acceptance or verbal profession. It includes trust, reliance, and commitment. We can not separate saving faith from obedience. A person is saved by the gospel being applied to their lives. This takes place when they repent of their sins, (acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior) are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for their remission of their sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost .(Acts 2:38)
- WE BELIEVE the church is the living, spiritual body of believers of which the Lord Jesus Christ is the Head. The church functions as Christ would function in the earth, seeking to find lost souls for the purpose of bringing them salvation. We believe the signs and wonders as mentioned in Mark 16:16-17, are still operating in His church today.
- WE BELIEVE there is eternal life in a place God has prepared for those who accept God's grace and receive His gift of salvation and there is eternal destruction of those who reject His grace and refuse His gift.
Jesus Said...
"..the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth..."
John 4:24
- WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord."-Acts 4:24
- WE LIFT OUR HANDS IN PRAISE because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord."-Psalm 134:2
- WE SING WITH ALL HEARTS because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise."-Psalm 98:4
- WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments."-II Samuel 6:5
- WE CLAP AND SHOUT UNTO GOD because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph."-Psalm 47:1
- WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD because in the Bible we read, "Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs."-Psalm 150:4
- WE TESTIFY PUBLICLY because in the Bible we read, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee."-Psalm 22:22
- WE ANOINT WITH OIL FOR DIVINE HEALING
In the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elder
of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord."-James 5:14
- WE ALLOW THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT; In the Bible we read, "When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation."-I Corinthians 14:26
- WE BELIEVE Prayer is a person's greatest asset. Prayer is where the natural connects with the Supernatural power of God. Prayer is nothing but and nothing less than communication with the most powerful power in the universe. In it's simplest and maybe its purest sense prayer is simply talking to Jesus. We don't have to use fancy words of memorized phrases we simply have to tell the Lord our needs, our hurts, our desires and of course our thankfulness for his blessing. An old song says, "oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bare, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer". Try praying more today and you will have a better tomorrow.
